1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Clubchat ("the App", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Clubchat ("we", "us", "our").
2. Eligibility
You must meet the following requirements to use Clubchat:
- You must be at least 13 years of age.
- You must provide a valid date of birth during registration. Users under 13 will not be permitted to create an account.
- You must have a valid phone number capable of receiving SMS verification codes.
- You must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
If we discover that an account belongs to a user under the age of 13, we will immediately terminate that account and delete all associated data.
3. Account Registration
Phone Authentication
Clubchat uses phone number verification to create and authenticate accounts. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your phone number and access to your account.
Profile Information
When creating your profile, you must provide:
- Username: 3-20 characters, letters, numbers, and underscores only. Usernames are unique and case-insensitive.
- Gender: Selected from provided options (male, female, other).
- Date of birth: Used to verify age eligibility.
- Interests/tags: Up to 20 tags describing your interests, used for matching.
- Profile photo: Optional. Stored securely in Firebase Storage.
- School: Optional. Used to connect you with your school community.
Account Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. Impersonating another person or creating false accounts is strictly prohibited.
4. User Conduct
You agree not to use Clubchat to:
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users.
- Send spam, unsolicited messages, or promotional content.
- Share illegal, offensive, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
- Impersonate any person or entity.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these standards, at our sole discretion.
Blocking & Reporting
Clubchat provides tools to block and report users who engage in inappropriate behavior. We encourage you to use these tools and will review reports in good faith.
5. Clubs & Memberships
Joining Clubs
Clubchat offers public clubs, invite-only clubs, and elite-only clubs. Access to certain clubs depends on your subscription tier:
- Free users: May join up to 2 clubs. Cannot join invite-only clubs without a valid invitation.
- Clubchat subscribers: May join up to 50 clubs. May join invite-only clubs without an invitation.
- Clubchat Elite subscribers: May join up to 50 clubs, bypass invite-only requirements, and access elite-only clubs.
Club Rules
Each club may have its own community standards. You agree to respect the culture and rules of any club you join. Clubs are moderated by Clubchat administrators.
Club Creation
Clubs are currently created and managed by Clubchat administrators. User-created clubs are not available at this time.
6. Matching
Clubchat's matching feature connects you with other members based on shared interests and club memberships. Matching is subject to the following limits:
- Free users: Up to 5 matches per day.
- Clubchat subscribers: Unlimited matches per day.
- Clubchat Elite subscribers: Unlimited matches per day.
Skipping a match adds that user to your exclusion list for future sessions. You can reset this by clearing your match history.
We do not guarantee that matches will result in conversations or relationships. Match results are based on algorithmic scoring and are not a guarantee of compatibility.
7. Messaging
Clubchat provides private one-on-one messaging between matched users. You agree to use messaging features responsibly and in accordance with these Terms.
We do not actively monitor private messages, but we may review messages when required by law or in response to verified abuse reports.
8. Subscriptions & Billing
Available Plans
Clubchat offers the following subscription plans, billed through the Apple App Store:
- Clubchat Monthly - monthly auto-renewing subscription.
- Clubchat Yearly - annual auto-renewing subscription.
- Clubchat Elite Monthly - monthly auto-renewing elite subscription.
- Clubchat Elite Yearly - annual auto-renewing elite subscription.
Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until then.
Refunds
All purchases are processed and managed by Apple. Refund requests must be directed to Apple in accordance with their refund policies. Clubchat does not process refunds directly.
Grace Period
If a subscription renewal payment fails, Clubchat provides a 3-day grace period during which your access to paid features is maintained while Apple retries the payment.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. You will be notified of any price changes in advance, and your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
9. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the app. Upon deletion, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your user profile and username.
- Your club memberships and associated data.
- Your FCM tokens (push notification registrations).
- Your block and report records.
- Your profile image from storage.
- Your Firebase Authentication account.
Account deletion is irreversible. Your conversations may remain on the other participant's device until they are also deleted.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your App Store subscription. You must cancel your subscription separately through your Apple ID settings.
10. Intellectual Property
Clubchat and all content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to the design, logos, and software, are owned by Clubchat and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as profile photos), but you grant Clubchat a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and display that content as necessary to operate the Service.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Clubchat is not responsible for the conduct of any user on or off the platform. We do not conduct criminal background checks on users.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Clubchat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from your use of the Service.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
